Technical Specifications

Exactly what gets encoded in each mode.

Rule Details
Basic mode (default) & → &, < → <, > → >, " → ", ' → '
Full mode Basic five plus every code point above 127 as a numeric entity
Decimal numbers © → ©, emoji → single entity (e.g. 🎉), never split surrogates
Hexadecimal numbers © → ©; uppercase hex digits, no leading zeros
Already-encoded input Encoded literally: & becomes & (use HTML Decode to reverse)

Features

⚡

Live Encoding

Entities appear as you type or paste. Switch modes and output rebuilds instantly.

🔢

Full Unicode

Accents, symbols and emoji become single numeric entities in decimal or hex.

📊

Entity Count

See exactly how many entities were produced alongside input and output sizes.

🔒

Local Device Privacy

Everything runs in your browser with plain JavaScript. Code never leaves your device.

How to Use HTML Encode

 1. Paste your HTML or text into the input box.
 2. Entities encode live in Basic mode; switch to Full for non-ASCII coverage.
 3. Choose decimal or hexadecimal numbers to match your toolchain.
 4. Click Copy Output or Download .txt to keep the encoded text.
 5. Click Clear to empty both boxes and start over.

Where Encoding Saves You

Unencoded angle brackets inside a tutorial become live tags, an unencoded ampersand in a URL breaks validation, and pasted code samples execute instead of displaying. Encoding is the thirty-second fix that separates “showing code” from “running code” — essential for docs, blogs, emails and any CMS that accepts raw HTML.

Basic vs full coverage

The five basic characters cover markup safety: with them encoded, no browser can mistake content for tags. Full mode goes further for legacy pipelines — eight-bit email, old databases, ASCII-only protocols — where a single © or emoji corrupts the stream. Pure-ASCII output travels anywhere unchanged.

Named, decimal and hex entities

Named entities like © read best but cover few symbols; numeric entities cover all 140,000+ Unicode characters. This tool emits the five common names plus numerics, the combination validators and linters expect. To go the other direction, use the HTML Decode; for URL contexts instead, use the URL Encode.

Honest limitations

Encoding is not encryption and not a complete XSS strategy on its own — context-appropriate escaping at render time still matters. The tool encodes literally, so pre-encoded input double-encodes by design. For very large pastes of tens of megabytes, live encoding on each keystroke can feel slower on older phones.

Privacy and Client-Side Security

Privacy Guarantee: All encoding occurs locally inside your browser. Your text is never transmitted, stored, or recorded on remote servers.

Many online encoders send your pasted code to a server for processing — a poor fit for proprietary source or unpublished content. TinyToolzz takes a different approach: every replacement runs in the page itself with plain JavaScript.

Because nothing is uploaded, there is no waiting, no account, and no copy retained anywhere. Your text exists only in the tab's memory and is discarded when you close the page or click Clear.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is HTML entity encoding and why is it needed?
Characters like < and & have structural meaning in HTML, so showing them as text requires entity codes such as < and &. Encoding prevents browsers from parsing your content as markup, which both displays correctly and blocks injected scripts.
What is the difference between basic and full encoding?
Basic mode encodes only the five characters HTML cannot contain raw: & < > double quote and apostrophe. Full mode additionally converts every non-ASCII character — accents, symbols, emoji — into numeric entities, producing pure 7-bit ASCII safe for any legacy pipeline.
Should numeric entities be decimal or hexadecimal?
Both render identically in every browser: © and © display the same © symbol. Decimal is more widely recognized by hand readers, while hexadecimal aligns with Unicode code charts. Pick whichever your toolchain documents.
Will already-encoded text get double-encoded?
Yes, by design: the ampersand in & becomes &. Encoding is literal and never tries to detect prior entities. To display an entity as text you actually want this; to reverse encoding use the HTML Decode tool instead.
Is there a text length limit?
There is no fixed limit. The tool encodes documents of several megabytes in memory. Extremely large pastes (tens of megabytes) may respond more slowly because encoding runs on each keystroke.
Is my text uploaded to a server?
No. All encoding happens locally in your browser with JavaScript. Your text is never transmitted, stored or logged anywhere. Closing the tab or clicking Clear removes everything immediately.
