How to Use Remove Extra Spaces

  1. Paste your text into the input box.
  2. Spacing cleans live with collapse and trim enabled by default.
  3. Toggle options to keep padding, preserve edges, or drop blank lines.
  4. Click Copy Output or Download .txt to keep the cleaned text.
  5. Click Clear to empty both boxes and start over.

The Hidden Cost of Bad Spacing

Double spaces after periods, tab-indented paragraphs pasted from documents, and padded exports look sloppy and break exact-match searches, diffs and imports. A CSV field of “ apple” never equals “apple”. Because the flaws are nearly invisible on screen, they survive review after review.

Collapse, trim, drop

Three independent fixes cover every case: collapsing normalizes internal runs to single spaces, trimming strips line edges, and blank-dropping compacts vertically. Run them together for pasted web text, or selectively — translators, for instance, often trim without collapsing to preserve intentional double spacing. For missing-data gaps rather than spacing, see Remove Empty Lines.

Tabs and invisible characters

Tabs from spreadsheets and non-breaking spaces from web pages resist ordinary find-and-replace because they look like normal gaps. This tool treats spaces, tabs and non-breaking spaces as one family and collapses them together. Pair it with Remove Duplicate Lines for a complete list-cleaning pass.

Honest limitations

The tool normalizes horizontal spacing only — it never alters words, casing, punctuation or line breaks (beyond optional blank removal). Exotic Unicode spaces outside the common set pass through unchanged. For very large pastes of tens of megabytes, live cleaning on each keystroke can feel slower on older phones.

Privacy and Client-Side Security

Privacy Guarantee: All cleaning occurs locally inside your browser. Your text is never transmitted, stored, or recorded on remote servers.

Many online cleaners send your pasted text to a server for processing. TinyToolzz takes a different approach: every replacement runs in the page itself with plain JavaScript.

Because nothing is uploaded, there is no waiting, no account, and no copy of your text retained anywhere. Your text exists only in the tab's memory and is discarded when you close the page or click Clear.

Frequently Asked Questions

What counts as an extra space?
Any run of two or more spaces, tabs or padding characters inside a line, plus leading and trailing whitespace at line edges. Each run collapses to exactly one normal space, so single spacing between words is always preserved.
Are tabs and non-breaking spaces handled?
Yes. Tabs, regular spaces and non-breaking spaces are all treated as horizontal whitespace and collapse together. Line breaks are never touched, so your paragraph and list structure survives cleaning.
What is the difference between the three options?
Collapse merges internal runs into single spaces. Trim removes leading and trailing whitespace per line. Drop blank lines deletes fully empty lines afterwards. All three are independent toggles that combine freely.
Will cleaning change my line breaks?
No. Only horizontal spacing changes; every line break stays exactly where it was unless you enable Drop blank lines, which removes empty lines alone. For dedicated blank-line work see Remove Empty Lines.
Is there a text length limit?
There is no fixed limit. The tool cleans documents of several megabytes in memory. Extremely large pastes (tens of megabytes) may respond more slowly because cleaning runs on each keystroke.
Is my text uploaded to a server?
No. All cleaning happens locally in your browser with JavaScript. Your text is never transmitted, stored or logged anywhere. Closing the tab or clicking Clear removes it from memory immediately.
