Technical Specifications
How the calculator measures age and the limits that apply.
| Specification | Details |
| Inputs | Birth date (required) and calculation date (default today); both as calendar dates at local midnight |
| Calendar Age | Years, remaining months and remaining days via borrowed month/year logic matching human birthdays |
| Totals | Total days = UTC midnight difference ÷ 86,400,000 ms; weeks = days ÷ 7; hours/min/sec = scaled from days |
| Leap Year Handling | Days-in-month table with Gregorian leap-year rule; Feb 29 birthdays roll to Feb 28 in non-leap years |
| Next Birthday | Next occurrence of birth month/day on/after calculation date; days-until = ceiling of UTC midnight gap |
| Date Range | Any valid Gregorian date the browser Date object supports (approx. 100,000,000 days range) |
| Processing Location | 100% client-side JavaScript in your browser memory; nothing is uploaded |
| Usage Limit | None — calculate unlimited ages for free, no signup required |
Why an Exact Age Matters
Age gates, school cut-offs, retirement planning and medical dosing all depend on more than just the year difference. A child born in December is almost a full year younger than a January classmate of the same calendar year, which is why precise month and day counts are required for eligibility checks.
Calendar years vs total days
Humans count age by birthdays, not by dividing days by 365. That calendar method respects varying month lengths and leap days. A baby born on 31 January and checked on 28 February is 28 days old, not one month, because February never reaches the 31st. This calculator borrows days from the actual preceding month to mirror that logic. For financial age milestones see the EMI Calculator and for eligibility timelines the Percentage Calculator helps with quota maths.
Leap years and Feb 29
The Gregorian rule — every fourth year is a leap year, except centuries not divisible by 400 — inserts a 29th day in February. People born on that date celebrate on Feb 28 in common years and revert to Feb 29 when it returns, which this tool replicates for both the age count and the next-birthday projection.
Next birthday and day-of-week
The next birthday is the first occurrence of your birth month and day at midnight UTC on or after the calculation date. Days-until uses UTC midnights to avoid daylight-saving jumps, and the weekday is taken from the same UTC construction so it stays stable across time zones.
Honest limitations
The tool works with calendar dates at midnight, not birth times, so hour-level accuracy depends on assuming 00:00 local. Time-zone differences and historical calendar reforms before 1582 are not modelled. For age-in-hours use the total-hours figure as an estimate of whole days times 24.
Privacy and Client-Side Security
Privacy Guarantee: All calculations occur locally inside your browser. Your birth dates are never transmitted, stored, or recorded on remote servers.
Many online age gates send your birth date to a server for verification, which is unnecessary for a simple difference. TinyToolzz keeps everything in-page: parsing and calendar math run with plain JavaScript Date operations.
Because nothing is uploaded, there is no waiting, no account, and no copy of your dates retained anywhere. Your values exist only in the tab's memory and are discarded when you close the page or click Clear.
