How to Use the Palette Generator

  1. Enter a base HEX like #2563EB or pick with the native color box.
  2. Choose a harmony mode — complementary, analogous, triadic, split, tetradic or monochromatic.

Understanding Color Harmony

A palette is more than five liked colors — it is a system that guides background, text and accent hierarchy. Harmony modes use geometry on the hue wheel to keep that system coherent: opposite hues create contrast, neighbors create calm, and equidistant hues create energy.

When to use each mode

Complementary palettes suit calls-to-action where the accent must pop. Analogous suits calm interfaces with subtle variation. Triadic suits playful branding with three distinct hues. Split-complementary softens the contrast of complementary, while tetradic gives four hues for data visuals. Monochromatic keeps one hue and varies lightness, ideal for minimal designs. Honest limitations

Harmony is a starting point, not a guarantee of accessibility. Two harmonious colors can still fail WCAG contrast, so test text pairs separately. The generator uses HSL math in sRGB and does not model perceptual uniformity or wide-gamut P3. History lives only in tab memory and clears when you close the page.
